History
Royal Garden opened its doors on 13th November 1990 with a
huge party, including a 30ft Chinese fire cracker and a lion dance; it
certainly entered with a big bang! It has remained under the same
management since the opening and converted what was originally an
Italian Trattoria into a truly successful Chinese restaurant.
This success is owed to the Cheung family; from beginning and still to
the present day it is run by a husband and wife team, Lin and Lawrence.
They have built up a loyal clientele and the restaurant has earned
itself the reputation of being ‘the meeting
place for friends’.
Royal Garden have even had the pleasure to serve a number of celebrities
in the past and present, some of which include: Ian Wright, Dougie
Freedman, Rugby 7’s All Blacks, Ken Doherty, John Parrot, Ronnie
Corbett, Boney M, Frank Bruno, the ‘Incredible Hulk’ Lou Ferrigno, Star
War’s R2D2 and 3CPO.
Our location
We boast a truly unique and special location in the middle of Addington
Hills; therefore it is the perfect and idyllic setting for a
celebration; in particular, weddings. With the advantage of no
surrounding properties, we do not have to worry about anyone else and
can party away! There is free ample parking immediately outside our
restaurant in the public car park. Being set in the park, diners quite
often take a stroll in the hills before or after their meal, enjoying the
view point with panoramic views of London.

Our Offering
The air conditioned and fully licensed restaurant caters
for up to 120 seats spaciously in the main dining and conservatory
areas. We specialise in Cantonese and Szechuan cuisine but our chefs are
highly experienced and are more than happy to cook most requested dishes
not offered in the menu.
Fresh meat and vegetables supplies are delivered four days a week
ensuring the best quality and freshly prepared food. The chefs spend
every morning preparing food such as spring rolls, marinating the
aromatic ducks and creating sauces. Unlike many others, our food is
prepared by our chefs in our restaurant and not brought pre-packed or
pre-made. We believe that this is essential if we are to offer our
customers truly authentic Chinese food.
To compliment the meal, we offer an extensive range of wines from the
new and old world. This menu is updated seasonally and revised
with expert advice from our wine merchant so that we can offer the best
service to our clients.
We also offer a good selection of Champagnes as we know many of our
clients dine at our restaurant for a special celebration. Champagne
toasts or drinks can even be enjoyed in our front patio during the
Summer season before a meal. And if weather does not permit,
drinks can be enjoyed in our bar reception or at the bar; in fact it is
typical of a diner to have a night cap at the bar to end the evening.
Our aim is to provide a high quality dining experience with excellent
food and drink; our front of house staff are polite and discreet, they
are the backdrop to the meal. From experience, our diners at the Royal
Garden like to talk and laugh amongst themselves; preferring a
professional service with a smile and that is what we offer!
So if you have not already visited us, why not reserve a table and join
us for a meal?
We look forward to welcoming you at the Royal Garden.
From all of us,
The Royal Garden Restaurant
